Genetics gives context.
It doesn't write the ending.
Holistic Nutrition & Nutrigenomic Coach, Calgary
My entire career path stemmed from one main source: figuring out my own body.
My search for these answers and my passion for health and wellness have led to over twenty years in the industry.
Growing up, I was the kid who was always sick. Not like a little sick, like a lot sick. That kind of thing stays with you. It taught me to pay attention to myself long before anyone could actually explain what was going on. So long before I ever heard a word like nutrigenomics, I already knew, somewhere deep down, that the standard advice everyone gets just wasn't written for a body like mine.
That question followed me for a long time. I started as a competitive athlete through my childhood and youth, and that led me into personal training. From there I found my way into marketing, working in health, wellness and medicine, and for a while I actually thought that was going to be my path. Turns out I was wrong. I quickly realized I wasn't meant to be behind a desk. I wanted to be with people, not writing about them from a few steps away.
That's what eventually brought me alongside a functional medicine physician, and where genetics first came into the picture for me. Once I saw what it could actually explain, I couldn't unsee it. I started taking every small training or course I could, and then travelled to England to learn and train in nutrigenomics and epigenetics. Three years ago, I finally took the leap and started my own business built entirely around it.
And this is the part I love most. Helping people understand their own body is something I spent the first fifteen-plus years of my career searching for, long before I even had the tools to do it properly.
There's just so much information out there now. It's easy to fall down a rabbit hole at midnight and come out more scared than you started. What I really love is taking all of that noise and turning it into something that actually makes sense for your body. Not some generic version of you. The real one. So we look at how you should eat, how you should move. Which supplements are actually worth your money and which ones aren't really doing anything.
Watching it click for someone, after years of not understanding their own body, that's the part that genuinely lights me up.
I'm also a mom of two very busy boys, and our own family has had plenty of complicated health stuff to work through along the way. So I get it. Life doesn't stay tidy. Some weeks are calm, and some fall apart by Wednesday, and whatever we build together has to be able to bend with that instead of breaking the second things get messy.
My coaching and genetic programs are out of a beautiful holistic health clinic called Vitality BioMed here in Calgary. That's where all my consults, testing, and programs happen, and there’s a whole team around me, so you're never stuck relying on just one person to have all the answers.
Your genetics are already writing decisions for you. Might as well be informed ones.
